Home Security Systems sales pictches are normally done as deadly serious presentations on how to save  yourself from the bad guys.  I'm sure some of it is true, but such a presentation misses the potential for fun and entertainment a home security system presents.

I started thinking about this when two random streams of thought collided.  I was writing about Garden Lights for another website when I remembered seeing the light limited capabilities of home security cameras as I browsed Costco on my last visit.  It struck me that inexpensive solar garden lights probably provide enough light to significantly enhance the range of night vision security cameras.  From there it wasn't much of a stretch to think such a security system would probably make a good way to watch four footed intruders! 

If rabbits are chewing off all your lettuce and early spring crops you should be able to set your home security cameras to watch your fence and see where they are getting in.  If racoons are coming over your wall you can see where and when.  If your dogs suddenly start making a lot of noise you might be able to see the skunk and get their dog door shut before they get back into the house.   If one of the neighbors cats prefers to use your flower beds as a bathroom you could prove it. 

More and more baby boomers are finding their physical mobility reduced as they age.  If you are like me, and find television a barren wasteland, a feed from night vision cameras might be very helpful in passing long hours.

It would be more challanging from a technical standpoint, but it should be possible to gt into your security system over the web and check on things remotely.  You could make sure the dogs were in the yard and things like that.
